Key Skills Alignment

Java Desktop Development

My major experience in Java concerns building web services and web applications. But I also have had experience building desktop GUI applications using Java Swing.

I have built a Java desktop application based on Swing and Netbeans platform for a previous employer. The application was used to assist testing of Android mobile applications.

I have also built a GUI application while in university using Java Swing. The application was to track the path of a mobile robot.

Legacy Systems & Modernisation

One of the most important projects I worked on at current company is to migrate and modernise a legacy API gateway that many services was relying on from on-premise to Azure cloud.

The code base was old and poorly maintained for years. I had to rewrite many parts to make it work in the new environment, at the same time removing all technical debts and improving code quality.

The running environment was also different, making troubleshooting and debugging difficult. But eventually it was delivered successfully in time.

Exposure to other technologies

I have had exposure to both .NET and Node.js before. Although I am not an expert in these technologies, I have general understanding of them and can quickly get up to speed if needed.

Usability Focus

I have been in frontend developer role before and understand the importance of user experience. When I was doing frontend work, I often discussed UI/UX design choices and possible impact to user experience with designers and product owners.

I am confident my expertise and experience as a Java developer make me well-suited to this role. I look forward to the opportunity to further discuss my application.
